Ceuta's senior brand manager gets on his bike for charity - 10/12/2009
Tom Mepham, Senior Brand Manager at Bournemouth based Ceuta Healthcare, has raised a staggering £3,000 for charity Scope. Tom took only six days to cycle 370 km across Cuba in 33 degree heat.
Scope works with people with cerebral palsy, their families and children. The money raised will allow the charity to continue running their vital support services. The £3,000 also included £500 from Ceuta the leading outsourcing sales, marketing and logistics service provider to the health and beauty industry, which was raised through a game of rounders on Bournemouth beach and a barbeque and netball tournament.
Tom Mepham said: “I’m really proud to have cycled all the way as there were some tricky moments. One day we had to cycle for 107km, which is the furthest I’ve ever cycled in that time frame. The heat really took it out of me.
“We also had a challenging penultimate day. At the end, we had to cycle 10km up a fairly steep mountain. The blood was definitely pulsing through my thighs after that!”
Tom was eager to offer his thanks to his colleagues at Ceuta as well as all his family and friends who helped him to raise the money.
Tom left Cuba with fond memories and strongly recommends it to anyone who fancies a challenge. He will be taking part in yet another fundraiser
for Scope in March 2010.
